HARDWOOD INSTALLATION

Built To Last A Lifetime

New solid and engineered installations with proper subfloor prep, expansion gaps, and clean transitions. Built for New England weather.

Install

Solid hardwood, engineered, and laminate installations from scratch.

Refinish

Dustless sanding plus 2–3 coats of zero-VOC polyurethane.

Repair

Board replacement, gap filling, and water-damage restoration.

Stain

Custom color-matching from natural through ebony — sampled in your light.

INSTALLATION

New Hardwood Floors

Whether it's your first floor or a full home, we install solid, engineered, and pattern hardwood with the prep work that makes it last.

Solid Hardwood

3/4" white oak, red oak, maple, hickory — site-finished or pre-finished. Proper subfloor moisture testing and expansion gaps for New England humidity swings.

Engineered Hardwood

Multi-ply construction that handles humidity better. Works below-grade, over concrete, and over radiant heat where solid hardwood can't.

Herringbone & Patterns

Classic herringbone, chevron, and parquet layouts. Precise cuts, tight seams, and the patience these floors deserve.

REFINISHING

Sanding, Staining & Finishing

Worn floors don't need replacing — they need refinishing. Our dustless system makes the process clean, fast, and safer for your home.

Dustless Sanding

99% dust-capture system that vents directly into a HEPA-filtered vacuum outside. No drop cloths for days, no fine residue settling for weeks.

Custom Staining

Natural, dark walnut, ebony, whitewashed, or a custom color we sample in your room's light. We mix until it's right before any coat goes on.

Water-Based or Oil-Based

Water-based polyurethane (Bona, Loba) for zero-VOC and fast cure. Oil-based on request for that warm amber glow some clients prefer. Two to three coats either way.

REPAIR & RESTORATION

Fix It Before You Replace It

Water damage, deep scratches, gaps, or a few rotten boards? Almost always cheaper and better to repair than to replace.

Board Replacement

Removing damaged boards and weaving in new ones that blend invisibly — feathered transitions, color-matched stain, seamless final finish.

Water Damage Repair

Pulling up swollen or cupped boards, drying the subfloor, replacing what can't be saved, then refinishing the section so it disappears into the original.

Historic Restoration

Wide-plank pine, century-old oak parquet, gap-filling century-old brownstone floors — restoration work that respects the age and value of older homes.

ANSWERS

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does refinishing take?

Most projects run 3–5 days end to end. Sanding day one, stain day two if applicable, then 2–3 coats of polyurethane over the next few days with cure time between coats.

Do you really travel to NH, RI, and Maine?

Yes — we cover all four New England states. For projects outside the Greater Boston area we typically batch travel days and provide on-site sleeping arrangements for the crew on multi-day jobs.

Is the sanding really dustless?

99% dust-capture system that vents into a HEPA-filtered vacuum outside your home. Some fine residue is unavoidable, but the difference vs. traditional sanding is night and day.

Water-based or oil-based polyurethane?

Default is water-based — zero-VOC, faster cure, stays clear over decades. Oil-based available on request for that warm amber tone some clients prefer; longer cure times though.

How long until we can walk on them?

Light foot traffic in socks at 24 hours. Furniture back at 48–72 hours. Area rugs after 7 days. Full cure at 14–30 days depending on finish.

Do you handle historic / wide-plank floors?

Yes — Boston brownstones, century-old wide-plank pine, parquet patterns. We adjust technique and equipment to match the floor, not the other way around.
